THE SEASON

The season for the club runs from April to September culminating in the Nationals Secondary Schools Championships. During the season the training is determined by the riders age, their ability and the goal of peaking for the National Championships.

The training season is based around three main rides (although this builds to 5 for more senior riders). These are:
Tuesday afternoon Windtrainer session “Hour of Power”
Thursday or Friday morning group ride
One weekend ride on wither Saturday or Sunday.

We follow Cycling New Zealand guidelines for our coaching and ensure our lead coaches become accredited.

During the course of the season the girls compete in a number of events with the race programme including:

  • 8 Team Time Trial races
  • 6 Criterium races
  • 5 Road Races
  • 3 Individual Time Trials

The Club also has many riders who compete in triathlon, duathlon, mountain biking and track cycling. Although these have not been a traditional part of the club we are evolving to be able to support girls who want to compete in these cycling disciplines.
